The Nantwich Loyal Volunteer Infantry

This booklet, by Dr Keith Lawrence, covers the early history of the development of the militia in England up to just after 1800. The booklet illustrates how you can use sources to try and understand military activity in Nantwich: who was recruited into the militia and which regiments may have passed through or been stationed in the town between 1700 and the early 1800s. The booklet covers the three voluntary regiments that were recruited in Nantwich from 1795 to the mid-1850s, their development and ultimate demise.
