The Wonders of Colour: Demonstrations and Presentations

As part of a programme of events and activities funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry, we’re delighted to be able to hold some special live demonstrations delivered by experts in their fields:

  • 7th August, 10am-3pm: Spinning and weaving with naturally dyed yarns – demonstrations in Nantwich Town Square by the South Cheshire and Borders Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. No booking required, just drop by.
  • 11th  August, 6.30-8pm: “Chemistry to Dye For: The fascinating history of the quest for colourful chemicals”. Join us on an odyssey from prehistoric times to modern days, including many live demonstrations of colourful chemical changes, to discover the chemistry and technology that brought colour to our world.   • 12th August, 6.30-8pm: “The Palette on your Plate: Exploring the rainbow of foods”. Learn about natural and artificial food colourants past and present, including fascinating demonstrations by Prof. Fabio Parmeggiani. The Wonders of Colour: Family Drop-in Workshops

Thanks to funding from the Royal Society of Chemistry, we’re pleased to be able to hold free family drop-in workshops with a colour theme on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout August. A great way to keep the children happy during the summer holidays! Just call in any time from 10am-3pm.

The themes and dates of the workshops are as follows:

  • Colours of the Rainbow (6th & 7th August)
  • Dyeing (13th & 14th August)
  • Mixing colours (20th & 21st August)
  • Fun with colour (27th & 28th August)
