Joseph Priestley’s time in Nantwich – Online Webinar
At 2pm on Wednesday 25 November 2020
Joseph Priestley is best known for his discovery of oxygen and other gases. This talk by Helen Cooke will focus on his early life, education, experiences and travels, in particular featuring his time in Nantwich (which was the focus of Nantwich Museum’s 2019 exhibition “From Nantwich to Oxygen: Joseph Priestley’s journey of discovery”). During his three years in the town, from 1758-61, Priestley was a non-conformist minister and pioneering teacher who may have taught the first ever science lessons, his time here helping to lay the foundations for his future discoveries.
If you wish to attend, you will need to purchase your place at least one hour before the talk – and joining details will be sent via email.
