Ada Nield Chew


The story of Ada Nield Chew (1870-1945) who came to the fore in this area in 1894 when she embarked on a campaign to expose the exploitative conditions under which women worked in a Crewe clothing factory. She became a nationally recognised campaigner for women to have greater opportunities through freedom and independence.
