An anniversary medal to mark our first 25 years in 2005 was created by a Nantwich-born artist, Ron Dutton (below).
The obverse features the sun logo of the museum, while the reverse includes the Nantwich pillory, a part of a long case clock, a butter pattern, a Cheshire cheese and a cheese iron or cheese borer, a last for shoes, ladies’ boot patterns, a Civil War Roundhead soldier’s helmet and a buttonhook. Sorry, no prizes for finding them all!
Ron also produces a Dutton Medal for individuals who have given valuable service to the local community. Unlike the one-off 25th Anniversary Medal, the Dutton Medal is awarded annual with the recipient being chosen by the Museum’s Board of Management. Ron donates the medal in memory of his parents, Walter and Ada Dutton, who set up a fund to honour people who work hard for the community.
